ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Rick DegelsmithWith well over 3 decades of Camp Akiba experience, Rick has held every job in camp at one time or another. In "real-life", Rick continues to hold every important job: husband, dad, counselor, teacher, friend, congregant. Rick and his family are "bi-congregational" -- they are active members of Temple Adat Shalom in Poway, CA, as well as Temple Akiba in Culver City. Rick grew up in Culver City, graduated from Culver High (1983), attended religious school at Akiba, was Bar Mitzvah at Akiba (1977), was married to his wonderful wife Lisa by Rabbi Maller in 1989, and has been a participant or leader at Camp Akiba since the age of 4. Rick has a Master's degree in Education (1994) and has extensive experience working with kids at camp, as a high school AP/GATE science teacher, and as "dad" at home, and is currently the Youth Director at Temple Adat Shalom in Poway. Rick has 3 daughters who attend Camp Akiba. Rick's vision for camp is to provide a fun Jewish environment where kids can live "Jewishly" for a small part of the year.

MAIL LETTERS!
Kids LOVE to get mail at camp. Don't forget to write letters to your kid(s) at camp. Try to mail a letter 2 days before camp begins so they can receive mail in the first couple days, and continue mailing letters until August 16 -- after that, we may not receive it before we leave.

CAMP AKIBA 2010 REGISTRATION FEES
$1245 for first camper
$1215 each additional sibling or CIT
$670 for first-year counselors
$100 discount for first time campers
NON-Temple members add $120 per camper
